New Projects Coming Up!

I am sorry I have been away.  During the summer we didn't do much around the house.  I have now started little projects around the house and will soon be posting them.  More to come very soon :)

Pinterest ReDo

I was searching around Pinterest looking for easy projects I can do on a canvas.  I did find some great ones and decided that I loved what Luluanddrews Etsy site did with dots.  Their cost of $61 was a little high for me so I thought I can do that and kind of make it my own.  Here is what I came up with.  This will be going in our Master Bathroom which is a Light Yellow Color.  Our Master Bedroom is Grey so it brings the two colors together very well. 

Here is what the color of our Master Bathroom is. 

Total Cost: $12 Plus still have lots of paint left over.

Our New Addition

We have a new puppy!!! Her name is Stella and she is a Yellow / Red Lab.  She is a little over 7 weeks old and doesn't sleep through the night.  It is just like having a baby in the house.  She is starting to chew on just about everything.  Here are some cute little picture of her and will update you on her progress.

Chalk Mugs

I found on pinterest a DIY chalk mugs.  I thought I would give it a try.  Here is where I saw Wit & Whistle do it and gave me such inspiration to try it myself.

• I bought 4 Mugs at World Market on clearance for $1

• Chalk paint from Hobby Lobby (*** After a week of use the chalk paint is starting to chip I will try Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Chalkboard Paint like Wit & Whistle did to see if it stays longer)

• Painters tape

•   Sponge brush or soft bristle paint brush

I taped off the top half and painted the bottom half :)

Here it is complete:) I havent purchased any chalk yet to write on them.

Little Projects

Last weekend we had people over for Jeff's 25th Birthday.  Because of that it made me do a couple little projects around the house.  I started by finding a home for my Make Up Brushes.  I have my make up room/crafts room that is starting to come along.  Jeff painted it a couple of weekends ago now the rest is all up to me.  I am turning a old desk into a vanity.  I never realized how much a new vanity was so I am taking a $20 desk and painting it.  I will be doing that project in the next couple of months :)

This was a bowl from my candy bar at our wedding.  I also have tons of coffee being that 2 family members work at Starbucks.  The brown looks great with my Tiffany colored walls :)  Whole project cost $0 It was all stuff I had laying around.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Remember when I talked about doing something with the old windows Thomas found me.  Well I figured out what to do with them.  

Here are the windows before.  We used the one on the right it was in a little better shape. 

Here it is measured out with the new picture. It is looking great. 

Here it is up on the wall all finished.  Total cost for project $20 for a 20 x 30 picture.

 Another little project we did was get rid of paper towels.  I realized that paper towels are very expensive.  We were using about a roll a week between just Jeff and me.  A roll of paper towel is about a $1 a roll so we are trying this instead.  Jeff really had no choice I just did it.  We bought bar towel from target 6 for $3.  These so far are working out for us.  If we have a really bad spill I still have paper towels but they are put away. 

Here they are in a jar from the wedding candy bar.  I think they look and work great.  Total cost of the project $6

Bath Bombs

I love to take baths.  I also love to put bath bombs in my bath.  I saw some at stores going for $5-$10 each and that is a 1 time use.  So I looked up to see if they are easy to make and they are.  I bought most of my ingredients at Coastalscents.com they even have the molds. 

This is the Fruit Cocktail Scent I did.  The color on top is Epson Salt with food coloring.

These are some of the items you need to make the bombs.  

Epson Salt. 

 What I used to make these.

• 1 Cup Citric Acid
• 2 Cups Baking Soda
• Witch Hazel In a Spray bottle
• 8 -10 drops Essential oils Scent of your choice
• 5-10 drops of Olive Oil (Makes skin very Smooth)
• Epson Salt (You dont have to use this I get sore muscles and love it in my baths)
• Molds
  
  Mix baking soda and citric acid in large mixing bowl. Mix very well and get all the clumps out.
  
  
  Add the Essential Oils and Olive Oil the scent is personal, so start with a couple drops and add more until you are satisfied. MIX WELL
  
  The next part is a little hard.  You don't want to add too much Witch Hazel to make you Bath Bomb to start to fizz.   Add 1 spray at a time and mix.  You want to be able to for a packed ball in your hand was about 10-15 sprays for me.  Just mix it and test it the sprayed amount could differ from spray bottles and the air temp.
  
  I added a little dyed epson salt in the top of my mold like you can see above.  Then you pack your molds with your mixture.
  
  

They are very easy to make. They took me about a hour to make 10.  I will next time buy a mold at the store that would be in a shape.  I will let you know how those go.  I have used a couple other peoples tutorials to come up with my own Bath Bombs.  I will change a couple things that I did this time and let you know how they go next time.

Baby Cakes.

A few weeks ago I went to my sister in laws baby shower.  This will be her 4th child so I had no idea what to get her.  I found some ideas on making my gift on pinterest.  There were a couple blogs showing the flannel baby blankets and baby wash clothes rolled up to make cupcakes and lollipops.  I thought I could tackle that so I tried.... Sorry the pictures really SUCK but I took them with my phone. 

Here is what the finished project looked like.  I LOVED IT and I think Leslie did too :)
